Protests in South Africa's townships have erupted again after residents demanded better public services.

Police in Mpumalanga province, south east of Johannesburg, fired rubber bullets and tear-gas to disperse crowds in one district after demonstrators set tyres on fire.

This happened as thousands of people marched from Sakhile township to the municipal headquarters in the nearby town of Standerton.

Focus on Africa's Sophie Ikenye spoke to community leader Phaneul Manana.
