A BBC investigation found that members of rival groups are stocking up with guns, saying they feared a repeat of the violence following the last election, that left more than a thousand people dead.
The news coincides with the end of a visit to Kenya by former UN secretary-general, Kofi Annan, to assess the progress made towards political reforms since the formation of a power-sharing government.
The BBC's Wanyama wa Chebusiri carried out the investigation. Focus on Africa's Hassan Arouni asked him what he had found out.
