It has been a week since the bloody violence in Guinea between security forces and opposition protesters, that led to the killing of more than 150 people.
Now Ecowas facilitator Blaise Compaore is in Guinea to mediate between the ruling junta and the opposition, with the hope of finding a solution to the country's political crisis.
Sophie Ikenye spoke to the Ecowas director for political afairs, Abelatau Mussah, to find out exactly what Blaise Compaore's mandate is.
