Clashes in South Sudan

Salva Kiir, the President of Southern Sudan, aired his concerns for peace following a gun battle apparently involving troops loyal to the former militia commander Paulino Matip.

Matip was a thorn in the side of the Sudan People's Liberation Army during the second civil war, before joining it after a peace deal.

The clash could have big consequences.
