The latest fighting in war-torn Somalia has pitted two militant islamist groups against one another in the southern port city of Kismayo.

Reports suggest the al-Shabab group has taken control of the city after clashes with the Hisbol-Islam group.

But why are they fighting each other?

Daud Aweys at the BBC Monitoring Unit in Nairobi has been following the conflict in Somalia, as well as this latest battle in Kismayo.
