News has been coming in of a big attack on a village in southern Sudan.

Latest reports say 76 people were killed in clashes during the raid, which took place on Sunday in a fertile farming district, about 300 kilometres north of the regional capital, Juba.

At least 20 of the victims are said to be soldiers.

It's the latest in a string of violent incidents in the region.

From Juba, Focus on Africa's Peter Martell sent this report.
