Attempts to verifiy reports, that a suspected al-Qaeda operative was killed in yesterday's helicopter raid in southern Somalia, continue.

Un-named American sources said last night that one of the victims was Saleh Ali Saleh Nabhan - a Kenyan accused of involvement in the attacks on the US embassies in Nairobi and Dar es Salaam in 1998, and on a hotel in Mombasa in 2002.

The Somali transitional government has also been speaking about the incident.
