More than 20 people are now known to have died as a result of the riots last week in the Ugandan capital Kampala.
The protests were against government attempts to stop the king of Uganda's largest ethnic group - the Kabaka of Buganda - from visiting a part of his kingdom, now largely inhabited by people of another ethnic group.
But could these events - the riots, the violence, the deaths and the destruction of property - have been avoided?
Focus on Africa's Joshua Mmali put that question to Uganda's president, Yoweri Museveni.
