The Libyan man convicted of bombing Pan Am flight 103 over Lockerbie in Scotland in 1988 has been freed from jail.

Abdel Baset Al-Megrahi has advanced and terminal prostate cancer and asked to die at home in Libya with his family.

The Scottish Justice Secretary, Kenny MacAskill, set out his reasons for the decision to free him.
