BBC Network Africa has managed to get an explanation from Nigeria's police for a raid on a settlement run by a Muslim community known as Darul Islam.
The raid, in Niger state in the centre of the country, was on Saturday and came in the wake of a bloody confrontation with members of another Muslim sect - Boko Haram - last month.
The police say that Darul Islam was a threat to security in the state.
Chris Ewokor reports.
