Now, on the latest stage of her seven nation tour of Africa, US secretary of State Hillary Clinton is in Nigeria today.

She's meeting President Umaru Yar Adua and members of civil society.

Her visit comes in the wake of turmoil, with Nigeria still shaken by deadly clashes between a radical sect known as Boko Haram and security forces in Bauchi and three other north eastern states.

Those disturbances - two weeks ago- left several hundred people dead.

Nigeria's problems with corruption and a slow process of electoral reform are expected to feature high on Hillary Clinton's agenda.

But frequent outbreaks of sectarian violence as recently seen in the north of the country are also a rising concern in Nigeria, as is the fear by America that Islamist groups such as Al Qaeda maybe gaining more influence.

Mallam Sufyanu Seidu, a public affairs analyst, lives in one of the states affected by the latest sectarian standoff.

On the line to Bauchi, Akwasi Sarpong asked him if America must get involved-given their record in the so called war against terror.
