US state secretary addresses rape in DRC

The US secretary of state, Hillary Clinton, is today in Goma in eastern D R Congo - an area which has been torn by conflict since 1994, when fighters from Rwanda moved in.

Atrocities are very common in the region and there is a lot of gender-based violence - including rape.

A recent report from the aid agency Oxfam, based in Congo's North and South Kivu provinces, found that half of the children, some as young as four, have been raped. It also found cases where the victims were men.
