Ten heads of state and governments from the Great Lakes Region are expected to participate in a regional summit.
The meeting will, among other things, assess progress made since the eleven member grouping signed the Pact on Security, Stability and Development in the Great Lakes area.
The International Conference on the Great Lakes Region has the long term objective of finding a lasting solution to the multiple and endemic problems faced in that part of the continent.
