It seems there is some debate about just how many people lost their lives as a result of the clashes in northern Nigeria between members of the Boko Haram Islamist sect and security forces.

Indeed, human rights and other NGO organisations have expressed concern that the police in particular employed shoot to kill tactics in their bid to capture members of the sect which, they say might mean that innocent civilians were among those targetted.

Bola Mosuro asked our correspondent, Ibrahim Dosaba who's been monitoring the situation from Abuja, what the authorities are now giving as the official death toll.
