The Nigerian military has begun bombarding an area in Maiduguri in the north east, where the leader of an Islamic sect involved in clashes against the police is believed to be hiding.
The youths - reportedly inspired by the Taliban - belong to a movement called "Boko Haram", whose leader says young people in the region are being corrupted by the West.
