Despite Togo having adopted a legal code for the protection of children's rights, no day passes without a child getting badly hurt through some form of physical violence.

Some of the worst affected are young girls who are sexually exploited by men, often old enough to be their fathers.

The situation has become so alarming that in January this year the government set up a free Child Helpline, in collaboration with UNICEF and other local NGO partners, to enable child victims of domestic violence to report offenders to the authorities.

Our reporter Ebow Godwin went along to the Helpline centre to find out more.
