South Africa has begun human trials for its very first HIV/AIDS vaccines today.
The tests are being carried out in the coastal city of Cape Town and will be rolled out to other parts of the country in the next few days.
South Africa has the highest HIV/AIDS rate in the world with over 5 million people infected.
The start of the trial coincides with the 5th International AIDS Society conference which is also meeting in Cape Town.
