'This is one small step for man, one giant leap for mankind.'

Those were the words astronaut Neil Armstrong said as he became the first man on the moon this day 40 years ago.

An historic event that was followed by millions across the world.

One man who was lucky to watch the moon landing on television is veteran Malawian diplomat Dr Desmond Dudwa Phiri.

He relived that moment with our Lilongwe reporter Raphael Tenthani.
