In Mauritania last night there was a shoot-out between police and armed men.

However this morning, according to the Electoral Commission, everything is set for the million people who will be trooping to the polls to cast their ballot.

The military head of state, General Abdel Aziz, is facing a challenge from eight other candidates.

Bola Mosuro spoke to Abdulraheem El Farsi from the BBC's Arabic Service and asked him first what he knew of the shootout.
