Opposition parties had called for a boycott, saying the poll wasn't free or transparent.
The incumbent Denis Sassou Nguesso was facing a challenge from seven candidates.
The turnout was reportedly low and official results are yet to be announced.
The opposition upped the ante a few hours after the close of polls and called for President Sassou Nguesso to resign.
