The price of crude oil on the world market rose above $70 a barrel, after militants in Nigeria, announced that they had attacked an oil facility belonging to Royal Dutch Shell. The latest development follows President Yar'Aduah's 60 day amnesty - announced last week - for gunmen who have been attacking pipelines and other oil and gas facilities, in the main oil-producing areas of the Niger Delta. But the main Militant group, known as MEND, rejected the offer, saying amnesty is only for convicted criminals, while they are fighting for a legitimate cause - a larger share of the region's wealth.
