Today a group of Kenyan independence war veterans will try to right what they say are the wrongs of history when they submit a claim at the High Court here in London against the British government.
The five Kenyans allege they were detained and tortured in appalling conditions during the Mau Mau uprising against the colonial government in the 1950s.
Daniel Leader is a barrister involved in the case.
