Malagasy politics tops SADC agenda

At a summit meeting in Johannesburg today, SADC heads of state will review efforts to restore democratic rule in Madagascar, where elected President, Marc Ravalomanana, was forced to step down by Antananarivo mayor, Andry Rajoelina, who was backed by the military.

Georges Nzongola-Ntalaja is Professor of African Studies at the University of North Carolina, currently based in Dakar, Senegal. Fred Dove asked him what problems he antcipated for SADC in trying to deal with Madagascar.
