Nigerian militants have released a British oil worker after nine months in captivity.

Matthew Maguire had been held by the Movement for the Emancipation of the Niger Delta (MEND) but was last night handed over to Nigerian government officials.

The 35 year old father of three had been held for nine months by the militant group in the oil producing Delta after nine other colleagues had been released.

Weekend Network Africa's Abdulahi Kaura Abubakar managed to secure an interview with him shortly afterwards.
