Telecommunications in East Africa are about to undergo a radical transformation, becoming cheaper, faster and more reliable.

That is the promise of the newly-launched 110 million dollar fibre optic undersea cable. It is seen as a crucial turning point in East African efforts to bridge the Digital Divide.

The BBC's Odhiambo Joseph witnessed the arrival of the cable.
