The demobilisation of southern Sudanese soldiers, who fought in the country's 22-year long civil war, began at an official ceremony in Juba on Wednesday.

It is the first step toward returning 180,000 soldiers to civilian life.

The BBC's Peter Martell went along to the launch in the southern Sudanese capital Juba.
