The American car giant General Motors have filed for bankruptcy protection - the third largest industrial failure in American business history.

About 20,000 workers in the US are expected to lose their jobs, but the company also has a number of plants in Africa.

So what kind of impact could this have for Africa's car industry?

Hassan Arouni spoke to Nico Vermuleun, director of the New Vehicle Manufacturers and Exporters Organisation of South Africa.
