To Libya now where the heads-of-state summit for the community of Sahel-Saharan states ended its first day of meetings on a festive, yet sour note.

The two-day summit being held in the Libyan coastal city of Sabratha was off to a disappointing start for the host country due to the low turnout of African leaders; only ten out the expected 28 attended the meeting.

As the first day came to a close, the encounter saw the presidents of Sudan and Chad making an early exit with no resolution over their continuing dispute.

Our correspondent, Rana Jawad has this report from the coastal town of Sabratha.
