During the eighties and nineties while many nations began to raise awareness of how to curb the spread of HIV and Aids, south Sudan was caught up in a brutal civil war that lasted over two decades.
Now that peace has come, playing catch up in efforts to contain HIV, the virus that could lead to Aids, as well as supporting those infected and affected, is proving a huge task.
Peter Martell reports from one of the hardest hit areas, Yambio, in the state of Western Equatoria.
