East African foreign ministers have ended an emergency meeting with a strong call for action against Islamists fighting in Somalia.

Meeting under the regional grouping IGAD they were looking at ways to end the killing of civilians after more than two weeks of intense fighting.

The BBC's Elizabeth Blunt was at the meeting.
