Fighting forces villagers to abandon their homes in the oil rich Niger Delta.

There has been a virtual news blackout on the current situation in the volatile region.

Late last week the militant organisation MEND announced an all out war against the military after the Joint Military Task Force launched attacks against suspected militant strongholds.

We managed to make telephone contact with Mike, one of those fleeing the fighting.
