In an attempt to pacify leaders of the Somali insurgency, the UN special envoy to the country has offered to lobby for their names to be removed from the United States' government list of alleged international terrorists.

Meanwhile, the African Union or AMISOM Envoy for Somalia Nicholas Bwakira has condemned the violence in Mogadishu that has caused thousands to flee the capital.
