The new US Assistant Secretary of State for African Affairs Johnnie Carson, is in Kenya at the moment.
He has been talking about the political impasse in the country as well as the last few days of fighting in the capital of neighbouring Somalia.
He called on countries in the region to support Somalia's transitional government rather than stoking up the war between the government and islamic insurgents that has left over fifty people dead, several injured and thousand fleeing the country.
