A new report warns that next year's elections in Sudan are under threat unless strong measures are taken to curb malpractice in the electoral system.
The elections are a key part of the peace agreement that ended conflict between the Khartoum government and rebels in southern Sudan. Originally due to be held in 2009, and now planned for early 2010, the elections have been postponed for almost a year.
For more details on the report, Hassan Arouni spoke with one of the authors, Justin Willis of the Rift Valley research and training group.
