A new solution is being proffered in Lokichogio, Northern Kenya in the fight against drought and hunger.

Cash is being offered instead of food aid in a bid to promote sustainable development.

The new project is being implemented by the aid agency Oxfam in conjunction with the UK's Department for International Development. But will this alternative to food aid, which many of these residents are used to, be a lasting solution to the hunger they face?

The BBC's Zainab Deen visited the area.
