The political turmoil in Madagascar that brought a new leader to power has been largely confined to the capital city while the rest of the country was watching and waiting.
However, the impact of the crisis is being felt outside Antanarivo; Antsirabe is the second largest city and economically one of its most important.
Not only does the town represent clearly the deep political divisions in the county - the majority of the population there oppose the new government - but it is also bearing the brunt of the economic slowdown caused by the instability in the country.
