It was a day spent making bread that inspired Jenny to help others cope with their kitchen-phobia. Her business, Come into The Kitchen, offers courses designed to take the mystery out of cooking and are aimed at children, students and adults. Come into the Kitchen: Jenny Groom's Kitchen and Dining Room. |
In a large, comfortable kitchen, complete with Aga and equipped to cater for moderately sized groups, Jenny inspires her students with the philosophy that cooking should be "fun - and not a chore." And it's hard not to be inspired just by the surroundings. Jenny's place of work is also the heart of her home - a former village school that's been converted to accomodate a new kitchen and dining area - with stunning views looking over towards the hills of the Pewsey Vale. Her sunny, blue and yellow kitchen features plenty of space for students to work, while still being able to watch Jenny's demonstrations. Inspiring ideas:a selection of Jenny's cookery books. |
Three hundred or so cookery books adorn the shelves, providing a source for Jenny's own recipes, which she believes should be inspiration for her students. Basing her own ideas around people like Jamie Oliver, Nigella Lawson and Delia Smith, Jenny is a self-confessed food enthusiast. "I make sure I source really original recipes so I know the food will always taste fantastic - important when you're trying to encourage a kitchen full of nervous cooks," she says. Her courses are flexible and aim to fit in with people's busy, everyday lives - whether they be at school or college, or at work. During the summer of 2002, courses ranged from preparing picnics, making perfect pizzas from scratch to producing classic sauces for pasta. For those with a sweet-tooth, there was even a course dedicated to "nothing but...yummy, squidgy chocolatey things." Click here to move onto the next page |
