| | Switch On Swindon! is looking for volunteers in the Swindon Borough area to promote the competition. The aim is to make us realise that we can use energy at home in a smarter way, which will save pounds off fuel bills, protect the environment and win you £4000 towards a project in the community. From now until November 2004 your community will be awarded points towards a local project by Switch On!. This may be for organising talks and events about energy efficiency, getting householders to fill in home energy surveys, encouraging them to install energy efficiency measures ranging from low energy lightbulbs to loft insulation, or persuading them to switch to a green power tariff.
"This competition is open to any Swindon-based club or community organisation, from a football club to a church group," explains Switch On! Swindon Project Assistant Ruth Baker. "It is your chance to come forward and win some money for your community, and do your bit to protect the environment for our wildlife and children." The most active group will win £1000 and any individual householder who improves energy efficiency at home will be entered into a prize draw and could win up to £500. To sign up for the competition or to find out more please contact Ruth Baker on 01793 535476 or e-mail energy@wiltshirewildlife.org
