The UK's largest ever permanent network of giant screens will be joining in London's Olympic handover party and celebrations on Sunday 24 August...

Numerous giant screens across the country, including Swindon's Big Screen in Wharf Green, will not only be going 'full screen' to show live coverage of the Olympic handover ceremony in Beijing but will be broadcasting live all the celebrations in the Mall in London as well.

Live from London

Up to 40,000 people (along with The Feeling, Il Divo, Katherine Jenkins, McFly, Will Young, James Morrison and Scouting For Girls) will be heading to the Mall for the London concert and you can join the party live at the Big Screen in Swindon.

Also being supersized, at the Big Sceen Wharf Green, will be the closing ceremony in Beijing and the official handing over of the Olympic flag to London Mayor Boris Johnson to mark the start of London's tenure as the official host city of the 2012 Summer Games.

Over 1.5 billion people, worldwide, are expected to watch the event and hundreds are expected to head to one of the network of big screens across the UK to watch:

"At approximately 2.30pm UK time, on the afternoon of 24 August," says London 2012 Chair Sebastian Coe, "the Olympic Flag will pass from the Mayor of Beijing to the Mayor of London in the Olympic Stadium in Beijing and the eyes of the world will turn to us."

The Swindon Big Screen will be showing full screen coverage of the final weekend of the Beijing Olympics from Friday 22nd August through to Sunday 24th August, 2008.
