Peter Frampton was one of the most famous faces of the the seventies. The flaxen-haired rock star notched up over 6m sales of his debut solo album Frampton Come Alive! which was released in 1976. The album shot Beckenham-born Frampton to superstardom through hit singles taken from it such as 'Do You Feel Like We Do', 'Baby, I Love Your Way and 'Show Me the Way'. Earlier in his career he'd teamed up with ex-Small Faces frontman Steve Marriott in the band Humble Pie. He'd also worked with rock luminaries such as Harry Nilsson, George Harrison and Jerry Lee Lewis. Talk BoxHowever, the thing Frampton is possibly most well-known for is his use of a Talk Box. The device is similar to a vocoder and is used to apply speech sounds such as singing onto a guitar. Frampton used it extensively on Frampton Comes Alive! and has since appeared in programmes such as The Simpsons and Family Guy alongside his Talk Box. He now lives in the United States and has just released his newest album, an instrumental piece entitled Fingerprints. He appeared on BBC Radio Wiltshire's Afternoon Show on Friday 13th October where presenter Mark Seaman chatted to him about his life and career, and of course his new album. |
