UNDERGROUND - Show 1 - 13/11/05

Series two of UNDERGROUND - BBC Radio Swindon and BBC Radio Wiltshire's show dedicated to local musical talent began on Sunday November 13th. Listen back to the show in streaming Real Audio.

The promised second series of BBC Radio Swindon and BBC Radio Wiltshire's weekly radio show UNDERGROUND got underway for another six-week run on Sunday November 13th.

UNDERGROUND features the latest band demos, a guide to the best gigs taking place around the area, band interviews, acoustic sessions, gig reports, and interviews with Wiltshire music scene movers and shakers.

On the first show in the second series, presenter Daniel Garrett welcomed Trowbridge-based alt-rock duo The Phoebus Mass into the studio where they played live and chatted about their success so far.

The band, made up of husband and wife team Chris and Lee Turtell recently released their debut album 'Born', have enjoyed radio airplay in the US and received the blessing of Killing Joke frontman Jaz Coleman for their cover version of the cult band's classic track 'Requiem'.

In the Movers and Shakers slot, Kev and Mazz from Gallipoli Records came in to talk about setting up their own home-grown local record label.

UNDERGROUND roving reporter Will Walder reported from Bradford on Avon retro outfit Blackbud's homecoming gig at Bath Moles Club on Saturday 12th November. The young band won a major record deal with Independiente and the gig took place on the eve of the release of their new 'Heartbeat' EP.

And in the new 'The Buzz with Buswell' slot, local musician and Wiltshire music scene man-in-the-know Shaun Buswell gave a rundown of all the best gigs taking place around the county over the following week.

On the UNDERGROUND playlist this week were:

Eskimo – 'Disco'
The Weary Band – 'So Sweet and Blue'
Showing off to Thieves – 'Too Late'
The Phoebus Mass – 'Attention Seeking Behaviour'
The Girls – 'Nineteen'
Blackbud – 'Heartbeat'
Battlewitch - 'Dawn of Ruin'
Daryl – 'Jaded Ded'
Buswell – 'Let Me Love'
