Hauntings are not limited to famous and ancient buildings. Many families feel they they have a haunting in their own home. Some such families - either anxious or interested - approach PSI. The first of these investigations is set in a north Wiltshire village, the location of which will not be named in the interests of the family, and any living relatives of the possible spirit. | | Mr X |
Private Home #1 was built in 1900, a small cottage designed for dairy workers. The property remained in the ownershp of the family which owned a number of local dairy farms, until the middle of the twentieth century. Until this time, the property was home to Mr and Mrs X. Mr X hailed from a noteable local family, with a history of famous military service. In the 1940s, Mr X died and the home passed through many families until Mr and Mrs Y and their children bought the house recently. Mrs Y has reported a number of strange occurances in her home. These include: extreme temperature drops, rattling of the bedroom doorhandle in the middle of the night when she was alone in the house, objects moving unassisted, and coming face-to-face with the figure of a man. Mr Y approached PSI, who researched the history of the house, and the families who owned it. The PSI team conducted an overnight investigation at the house. Pictures cannot be shown, for the respect of the family involved. However, a number of light anomolies were caught on film, and a figure was seen in the house. All equipment malfunctioned, power and batteries drained at the same moment. After the investigation, PSI researchers analysed Mrs Y's description of the figure with which she came face-to-face. The figure matched the image of a man in an old photo of Mr X, unearthed by PSI. Mrs Y confirmed the photo as the 'figure' she had seen. PSI concluded there was no spirit in need of a 'rescue' at Private Home #1, but has offered the family ongoing support. PSI has concluded that there may be no 'conscious' spirit haunting Private Home #1, but possibly the 'residual energy' of a person or persons passed away. This follows the 'stone-tape theory', suggesting that emotionally charged people in specific scenes are 'locked' into the fabric of the building, destined to replay when the environmental triggers are right.
