Public sector cuts - how will Wales cope?

Nick Servini goes on a journey around Wales to investigate the potential impact of public sector cuts.

Last updated: 06 September 2010

Wales at Work, Monday 6 September, 7 PM

In the first of a new series of Wales@work, Nick Servini travels around Wales to find out how the economy could be affected by forthcoming public sector cuts.

New figures show that 340,000 people in Wales - or 27.5% of the working population - are employed in the public sector. That compares with 21.2% for the UK as a whole.

But Nick finds it's not just those working in or running public services who are worried. Private sector businesses are bracing themselves for a knock-on effect too.

But could there also be hope on the horizon for some private sector businesses? Will they be able to soak up more outsourced work from the public sector?
