The future of manufacturing

As a new decade gets underway businesses across Wales are looking for signs that the recession is coming to an end.

But for some of them any hopes for the future were dealt a hammer blow last week with news that the Bosch factory near Cardiff will close next year with the loss of 900 jobs.

Unions say it has left workers and a whole community bereft.

The announcement has called into question the future of manufacturing in Wales and whether we need to change the shape of the Welsh economy.

last year was one of the toughest in the history of the automotive industry - so how will it fare in the next 10 years?
