The Pub Trade

The Christmas season is upon us and pubs across the country will be hoping to cash in.

But there's been trouble brewing in the pub trade for years.

The recession, the smoking ban and cheap supermarket booze are all making their mark.

Fifty pubs across the UK are closing every week. So what future is there for the pub trade?

The difficulties have been across the board but it's the landlords who are tied in with pub companies who have been the most vocal.

In a double whammy, they claim they're being charged too much for the beer they have to buy while at the same time facing rising rents.

So is this an industry trying its best to survive or making things worse for itself?
