The Latest update from Wales@Work

Royal Welsh Show - Outside Broadcast

As the recession goes into its sixth month and consumers continue to tighten their belts, one grocery sector that is really feeling the pinch is organics.

Figures out earlier in the year reported that organic foods such as bread have seen a sales slump of 29%, fruit by 20%, eggs by 12%, and vegetables by 8%.

After years of boom for the industry it seems that consumers are spending their money elsewhere with sales of non-organic goods up by 7 per cent.

So what can the organic sector do to ride the recession storm? With food security still hot on the political agenda is there still a future for organic?

This week Wales@Work comes live from the Royal Welsh Show in Builth Wells to discuss what future is there for Wales' organic farmers and food producers.
