Future Skills

As the UK recession continues, businesses in Wales are looking to the future and how to cope when the upturn comes.

Skilled manufacturing jobs are being lost all over the country and there are concerns that some expertise maybe lost for good.

The Welsh Assembly Government is trying to counter this withy its ProAct funding, which is the only wage subsidy available in the UK and provides £2,000 to struggling businesses.

ProAct also funds up to £2,000 for on-the-job training too - but is it enough?

Some see the recession as a time to reinvent the Welsh workforce - and say specialisation is the way forward - but what skills will we need?

On the eve of the first report of the Wales Employment and Skills Board which is launched at the Senedd tomorrow, its author Sir Adrian Webb joins three other industry experts on Wales@Work to discuss the future of skills in Wales.
