The Latest update from Wales@work

Life After Hoover

After 60 years of production the Hoover factory in Merthyr Tydfil saw its last shift on Saturday.

More than 350 people now find themselves out of work in one of Wales' most deprived areas.

When it opened Hoover was seen as a beacon of hope for thousands of local people who found work there - the town was even nicknamed Hoover-ville.

But now that the factory has closed its doors for the last time, where does the community go from here?

Decades after the devastation of the closure of the mines, is Merthyr facing another depression?

Wales@Work asks what next for Merthyr after Hoover leaves town.
