This month sees the Centenary of the state pension going before the commons, but 100 years on from Lloyd George's social reform, has much changed for pensioners in 2008?

The cut in the 10p tax rate comes into affect this month and pensioners will see how much they have lost in this new tax change. Research this week shows that more people about to retire are becoming increasingly concerned with the cost of living and how it is going to affect them in retirement; and that around a quarter of the people surveyed we are facing retirement are still not saving for it.
