Public sector pay packets

Chancellor Gordon Brown has just announced pay rises in the public sector, but not everyone's happy with the new deal.

The increases are the lowest in a decade and will save the Treasury an estimated £200m.

Here in Wales, nearly a quarter of workers are employed by the public sector.

Unions have reacted with anger at the below-inflation pay rise in the health service and other public service sectors. The government says the pay rise is fair and good for the economy.

But, does this set the tone for the rest who work in the private sector?
